My name is Eric Shearer, author of Catholic Armory. I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. I’m the second of six children, all homeschooled by my mother. I’m a farm boy turned engineer who married his college sweetheart in 2015. But above all, I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
My wife and I have spent most of our marriage dedicated to forming Catholic young adult community in our area. Inspired by the community we experienced in college, we’ve found great fulfillment in working with young adults to grow in a Catholic community together through authentic Christ-centered friendships.
In recent years I’ve felt a particular calling to work with and be fed by other men seeking holiness. As the proverb says: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Prov 27:17). I can hardly sum up the impact a few holy and manly men have had on me by encouraging me in my walk with Christ. I believe that few things please God and scare Satan more than the forging of strong and holy friendship between brothers in Christ. In these relationships we receive the building up that we need to be good husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, and friends to others in our lives.
I am honored and grateful to be able to share the riches I have found in Christ and his Church through the outreach of the Catholic Men’s Fellowship. It is my hope that through this blog I may deepen my understanding of my faith and help others to “always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope” (1 Peter 3:15).
